Production Area: South Western Sicily, Sciacca Carboj Islands

Altitude: 50 m/above sea level

Pruning System: Guyot

Average Age of the Vines: 15-20 years

Density of Planting: 4500 plants per hectare

Type of Soil: clavey, reaction sub-alkaline with presence of total limestone in poor quantities; rich in potassium, magnesium, calcium, iron and zinc

Yield per Hectare: 7000 Kg

Harvest: September, manual in small boxes

Vinification: crushing and stemming with soft pressing, maceration 12 days on the skins in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature

Ageing: 6-8 months in barrels and 6 months in bottle

Tasting Notes:

  • colour: deep ruby with light purple reflections
  • nose: red berries, vanilla, sweet tobacco and light balsamic nuances
  • taste: good acidity, pleasant velvety tannins, long and persistent; final with woody notes from the oak barrels tannins
