Barbaresco Docg "San Cristoforo"

Production Area: the vineyard is located in Neive (near Alba - Cuneo) and San Cristoforo is the geographical indication that identifies a cru of particular value

Exposure: South - East, with 360-degree rotation, typical of the apex of the Piedmontese hills, called "Bricchi"

Pruning System: Guyot

Yield per hectare: 55 quintals, severe thinning in the vineyard

Harvest Period: around mid-October, however influenced by the climatic conditions of the year

Vinification:  pressing; fermentation in stainless steel at controlled temperature between 28-30°C for 10-12 days, until the complete fermentation, frequent pumping-over and subsequent malolactic fermentation; then pouring into oak barrels for refinement

Aging: 16-18 months in large Slavonian 25 hl oak barrels

Aging Potential: long-life wine that matures slowly and constantly in bottle even after several decades

Tasting Notes:

  • colour: intense ruby red with garnet reflections
  • nose: aromas of flowers such as rose and violet; balsamic and mineral notes
  • taste: great freshness with soft tannins, great stylistic elegance in a warm and enveloping finish
